Fugly Productions announces the return of their punk rock musical, titus x: The Musical, by Shawn Northrip. Performances are at Tank starting July 27^th and running through August 24^th, Thursdays at 10PM.

Titus X is the story of a victorious soldier returning home to Rome after losing most of his sons to war.

He observes the religious rites of human sacrifice, killing the son of Tamora, Queen of the Goths, and setting in motion a violent chain reaction of revenge, which includes: the rape and disfigurement of Titus' daughter, the execution of two of his sons, the exile of a third, and the amputation of his hand. Titus, losing his sanity, sets his own gory revenge in motion, killing Tamora's two remaining sons, baking them in a pie, and feeding them to her at a banquet, by the end of which, all of the guests are dead.

titus x: The Musical was performed at the Kennedy Center 2002 Page to Stage Festival, Catholic University, the Washington New Play Festival, Source Theatre, the Tank as presented by the New York Musical Festival, and at Chashama.

Peter Marks of the Washington Post wrote of Titus X, “It’s got noise and it’s got energy.” Martin Denton of nytheatre.com called titus x “visceral” and “gut-crunching” and said the staging was “miraculous and inventive.” And Offoffonline wrote, “Titus X takes two things that are often treated with the utmost seriousness – Murder and Shakespeare – and pulls the rug out from beneath them, And that kind of irreverent playfulness is sorely needed in theater today.”

titus x: The Musical was written by Shawn Northrip who received his MFA from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. As an undergraduate, Shawn attended Catholic University, where he studied Drama Education. In DC, Shawn’s work has contributed regularly to the Madcap Player’s Annual Winter Carnival and to the Kennedy Center’s Page to Stage Festival. In addition to titus x, Shawn is also gearing up for the premieres of his shows Ramona and Juliet at the Buffalo Infringement Festival in August and Lunch, at the 3^rd Annual New York Musical Theatre Festival in September.

The cast of titus x: The Musical includes Pete Schuyler, Ben Pryor and Joe Pindelski.
