Licedei, the world famous Clown Theater from St. Petersburg, Russia continues its global tour with its comic smash hit SEMIANYUKI at The Tribeca Performing Arts Center at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), 199 Chambers Street, on February 9^th at 8PM and February 10^th at 3PM and at 7PM.

SEMIANYUKI is a hilarious clown show that humorously deconstructs a dysfunctional family. Characters include a baby whose dolls are always missing their heads, a father who’s a bit tipsy, sibling rivalry between the teenagers and an always expectant mother. The uniquely entertaining action includes wonderful visual tricks, superb mime/clown, pillow fights and an auditorium filled with paper streamers.

Internationally acclaimed clown Slava Polunin of Slava’s Snow Show founded Licedei over 35 years ago. Winner of many prestigious National and International theatre awards, this unique troupe has appeared at practically every notable theater festival throughout Europe and Asia. SEMIANYUKI had successful runs in the most prominent Avignon, France and Edinburgh, Scotland arts festivals, where it received nominations for numerous awards.

Of the August 2006 Edinburgh Festival run The Scotsman wrote, “Fringe audiences who recall Slava Polunin’s Snow Show – first seen here in 1996 – will have an idea of what to expect from this extraordinary performance” and went on to say that the show is “guaranteed to send everyone away with a big grin.”

This show is appropriate for all ages, and, since the show is performed entirely with movement and physical comedy, it can be enjoyed by audiences from all backgrounds.

Performances for SEMIANYUKI will be at The Tribeca Performing Arts Center at BMCC, 199 Chambers Street. Performances will be on Friday, February 9^th at 8PM, Saturday, February 10^th at 3PM and 7PM.
