Beacon Productions will present THERE’S THE STORY, a new play by Timothy McCracken.  Performances at the Blue Heron Arts Center, 123 E. 24th Street will begin on Friday, May 6th and will continue through Sunday, May 22nd.

THERE’S THE STORY is about a composer grappling with "writer's block", and the secrets that lie behind it.  Unable to finish a piano composition for two years, Henry Griffiths hasn’t left his Hell’s Kitchen apartment in months. With compositions flying from his fingertips and the social life of a swinger, Curtis, Henry’s fellow composer and roommate, couldn’t be more opposite. One night, both men find themselves hurled into a world of chaos and competition when a stranger makes an unexpected and lasting impression that exposes the truth of a tragic loss that haunts all three.  Along with original piano compositions by Randy Redd, THERE’S THE STORY reaches under the surface of artistic talent to explore the torment, humor and beauty of an artist’s relationship to their passion.

The cast for THERE’S THE STORY features Sean Dougherty (Roundabout Theatre, Cherry Lane, The York Theatre Co.), Tara Falk (Broadway credits include the upcoming Shining City, Metamorphosis, and Enchanted April, off-Broadway includes This is Our Youth), and Mr. McCracken (acting credits include The Public Theatre, and Synapse Productions’ The Elephant Man and Animal Farm).  Christopher Grabowski, former Associate Artistic Director of New York Theatre Workshop, will direct.  Original music, which is featured in the story, is composed by Randy Redd and will be played live by the actors throughout the production.  Mr. Redd is an actor and composer who appeared on Broadway in Parade.

THERE’S THE STORY will begin performances on Friday, May 6th, and will continue through Sunday, May 22nd.  Performances will be Mondays at 8pm, Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8pm, with Sunday performances on May 8th and 15th at 7pm, and May 22nd at 2pm.  Tickets will be $15 and may be purchased by calling Smarttix at (212) 868-4444, or online at www.smarttix.com.  Photos will be available for download at www.brettsinger.com/clients/theresthestory.html.
