Presents The Return Of

Ah, My Dear Andersen

Adapted and Directed by Aleksey Burago

A Holiday Show For The Entire Family

December 4th through January 9th

At 259 West 30th Street (between 7th and 8th)

Urban Stages is pleased to announce the return of their holiday show for families, AH, MY DEAR ANDERSEN, a stage adaptation of four Hans Christian Andersen’s stories.  Performances will be at 259 West 30th Street (between 7th and 8th) and will begin on Saturday, December 4th.

AH, MY DEAR ANDERSEN brings to life the magical stories of Hans Christian Andersen. Four tales are used: “The Nightingale,” “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Fir Tree,” and “Sweethearts.”  Performed by a cast of four, this charming fantasy features original music, a kaleidoscope of costumes, puppets, and visual effects – guaranteed to enchant and inspire children and adults alike.  Russian director Aleksey Burago, who trained at the Moscow Art Theater, has put together an imaginative production that is sure to please New York audiences this holiday season.

When it was presented last season at Urban Stages, critics raved. Talkin’ Broadway said that the show was “excellent” and “bursting with creativity,” Laurel Graeber of the New York Times called ANDERSEN, “Exquisite [and] visually stunning,” and Arlene Epstein of The Herald wrote that ANDERSEN “promises a voyage of the imagination for the whole family.”

The cast for AH, MY DEAR ANDERSEN will be Snezhana Chernova, Eunjee Lee, Jane Pfitsch and Roya Shanks.  The design team remains the same as last year: Alexander Solodukho (Sets), Nadia Fadeeva (Costumes), Ben Stanton (Lighting), and Colm Clark (Music and Sound Effects).

The schedule will be Wednesdays through Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 1 & 7pm, and Sundays 2 & 5pm, with some exceptions.  See below for a complete calendar.  The show is also available for special events – groups of 50 or more can book a performance at the theater even if the date is not on the regular schedule.

Tickets will be $25.00 for children and $35.00 for adults, and may be purchased by calling Smarttix at 212-868-4444, or online at www.urbanstages.org.  Photos will be available for download at www.brettsinger.com/clients/urbanstages.html.
