PRIME TIME

A New Comedy By Alex De Witt

Directed by Fern R Lopez

Featuring Jack Mulcahy (“The Brothers McMullen”)

Performances Begin on May 5th and Continue Through May 27th

At The Lion Theater, 410 West 42nd Street

NEW YORK CITY – April 11, 2006 – Cosmic Breeez Productions is pleased to announce that PRIME TIME, a new comedy by Alex De Witt, will open on Friday, May 5th and will run through Saturday, May 27th at The Lion Theater, 410 West 42nd Street.  Jack Mulcahy (star of the film “The Brothers McMullen”) will lead a cast of 11, under the direction of Fern R Lopez.

PRIME TIME tells the story of John Ball, who has it all in his white suburban paradise. He views the rest of the world through a big-screen TV.  But the real world is nothing like Prime Time.  Class, race and pop culture collide in a satirical view of the 2-dimensional stereotypical world fed to America through mass media.  What does it all mean?  The stagehands have a few ideas.

The cast of PRIME TIME includes Steve Beauchamp, Vance Bradford, Aquarius Cheers, Alex De Witt, Dudley F. Findlay Jr., David F. Gandy, Harlin C. Kearsley, Julia Montgomery Brown, Peyton List, Spencer List and Jack Mulcahy.

Jack Mulcahy counts amongst his many credits the lead role of Jack McMullen in the critically acclaimed comedy classic “The Brothers McMullen”; the role of Wesley York in HBO’s smash-hit series, “Sex & the City”, along with recurring roles on “One Life to Live”, “Law & Order”, “NYPD Blue” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.

PRIME TIME will be directed by Fern R Lopez whose credits include Alex De Witt’s The Lunch (director), You Can’t Take It With You (director), The House of Blue Leaves (director), Equus (director), The Stronger (director), Godspell (director / musical director), Hair (director / choreographer / musical director); film credits include “Heterophony” (director), “Washed in the Blood of the Lamb” (director / choreographer), and “Through the Venetian Blind” (director).

Playwright Alex De Witt is a writer and actress. Her play The Lunch was produced in New York at the Jose Quintero Theater in September 2003.  Holy Terror was a finalist in the New Play Competition at Centre Stage South Carolina and was given a staged reading in 2005. She was contracted to write the book for a musical, Pearl, which will be produced in Shanghai. Other produced plays include Joe and The Cat Burglar and The Man Who Wore Skirts.  Her first novel, The Phobian Project, was published in April 2006.

PRIME TIME will open on Friday, May 5th and will run through Saturday, May 27th.  Performances will be Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8PM with a Monday night performance on May 8th at 8PM and a matinee on Saturday, May 13th at 2PM.
