Good Intentions Productions and The New York International Fringe Festival will present Peter Zablotsky’s THE POOL WITH FIVE PORCHES , which will be at The Players Loft, 115 MacDougal Street, 3rd floor.  Performances begin on Sunday, August 13th and runs will run through Saturday, August 26th.

THE POOL WITH FIVE PORCHES is about two men in desperate need who wait, along with an untold number of unseen others,. The play takes place at the edge of The Pool With Five Porches – perhaps the purgatory of pain; perhaps the fountain of hope.  The pool is believed to have the power to heal, but the catch is that only the first person to enter the pool after the waters start to roil will be healed; the rest must continue to wait, or be forever denied their miracle.  A man has spent the last four years crawling his way to the edge of the pool; he has been stricken by the plague, and seeks to be made whole.  As the play begins a second man bullies his way to the edge of the pool.  This new visitor is physically healthy, strong, and imposing -- he seeks not a cure for a physical ailment, but relief from the pain of his family having been killed in an enemy's recent attack.  The men are forced to rely on each other for survival, and begin to tolerate each other,  as they wait for the pool to again stir.  As the men continue to wait, they again reach a point of tolerance, and then start to use each other to piece their lives back together -- one as a craftsman, the other as a trader, and to experience simple human contact.  Their reliance deepens until the pool stirs for a second, and final, time.  As the water starts to roil the men are confronted with the ultimate question: What miracles matter?

Peter Zablotsky’s first play, "Off The Meter", was selected for presentation at the 24th Annual O'Neill Theater Center National Playwrights Conference (Lloyd Richards, Artistic Director); selected for the 4th Annual GeVa Theatre French Roast Festival (Anthony Zerbe, Artistic Director); performed at Theatre for the Open Eye (Amie Brockway, Artistic Director), selected for the 14th Annual Samuel French/Double Image Short Play Festival, and was presented Off-Broadway in NYC at The Hudson Guild Theatre in 2000. His play "H. Finn, Esq." was produced Off-Broadway at the Kaufman Theatre on Theater Row. An earlier version of THE POOL WITH FIVE PORCHES won the Georgia National One-Act Play Contest. His play "Who's Not Ready Holler I" was selected for the FringeNYC 2003 New York International Fringe Festival and has since been performed regionally.

Director John Ahlers’ credits include the Off-Broadway productions of "Off The Meter" and "H. Finn, Esq." and the Off-Off-Broadway productions of "The Compatriots," all written by Peter Zablotsky. He also directed "Left and Right are from the Actor's Point of View" and "The Importance of Being Earnest" for Starbuck Repertory at the Courtyard Playhouse.

The cast for THE POOL WITH FIVE PORCHES includes Kent Jackman (“The Winter’s Tale,” Arena Stage and Zablotsky’s “Off The Meter”) and Scott Whitehurst (“Black Eagles,” Manhattan Theatre Club and “Merchant of Venice,” Pearl Theatre).
