Fugly Productions announces the NYC premiere of their new rock musical, LUNCH, by Shawn Northrip. LUNCH will be a part of the New York Musical Festival and performances begin on September 13 and will run through September 24 at The 45^th Street Theatre, 354 West 45^th Street.

LUNCH is a musical about love in the eighth grade. At Benjamin Franklin Middle School, lunch is everyone’s favorite subject. First crushes and first kisses; best friends growing jealous of girlfriends and the all-important battle for Queen of the eighth grade formal dance.

LUNCH was written by Shawn Northrip, who received his MFA from NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. He lives in Washington, DC where his work has been seen at Source Theatre, Titus X, H Street Playhouse Cautionary Tales for Adults, and the Kennedy Center, who generously funded and presented early workshops of Lunch. In New York, his show Titus X, a punk rock musical, has been seen at the Tank, as presented by the first NYMF festival, and in production at Chashama.

Developed at the Kennedy Center, LUNCH features a fresh, raw new punk/ska/rock score by Shawn Northrip, whose Titus X was featured at NYMF 2004.

Trey Graham of the Washington City Paper called LUNCH “Punkalicious.” And Joel Markowitz of the DC Theatre Review said that LUNCH is “funny and biting” and a “tasty dish.” Shawn Northrip's most recent show in New York was TITUS X, which the Village Voice said was "a riot of three-chord progressions and Doc Marten–stomping bops".

Director Shirley Serotsky is based in Washington, DC where she recently directed a critically acclaimed revival of Lee Blessing’s Two Rooms for Theater Alliance. She directed Shawn Northrip’s Titus! The Musical in D.C. Her New York directing credits include The Winter’s Tale (Sonnet Repertory), The Superfriends of Flushing, Queens (Columbia University), Starlet for Sale (Expanded Arts), The Blind, and A Teenager's Guide to the Universe (The Looking Glass Theater).

The cast of LUNCH includes Leo Goodman, Tara Giordano, Alessandra Migliaccio, Kelly Tighe, Matt Doyle, Correy West and Hollis Scarborough.
