WHO & WHAT:               Inside Broadway, a professional theater for young audiences, is pleased to announce their production of BYE BYE BIRDIE created specifically for families and children.

Though it originally premiered in 1960, Broadway’s classic musical comedy Bye Bye Birdie still speaks to and entertains young people today.  The story begins when rock-n-roll super star and teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie prepares to join the service.  Before he goes off to fight for his country, his agent stages the publicity stunt of the year, one lucky fan will win a good-bye kiss from Birdie on the nationally televised Ed Sullivan show.  The lucky winner is all American-girl Kim McAfee, whose sudden fame creates chaos in her small town and in her life.  This 50-minute version of Bye Bye Birdie has been specially designed for a younger audience.  Songs included in this classic musical are: The Telephone Hour, One Boy, One Last Kiss, A Lot of Livin’ To Do, Put On A Happy Face and Kids.

One hour before each performance, everyone who attends will be treated to free face-painting by a professional make-up artist.  There will also be a meet and greet with the cast after every show.

Inside Broadway is a professional New York City based children’s theatre company committed to producing Broadway’s classic musicals in a contemporary light for young audiences. Inside Broadway’s musical adaptations are presented in public schools throughout the city and in our Weekend Family Series for the public. They also offer related hands-on, in-school Teaching Artist Residency Programs that enrich core curriculum subjects through drama, dance, and music.
